Monday Night Classic Jazz Clips

It’s Monday night already?  Christmas has come and gone and it’s been a quiet week here at the Poubelle.  But it is Monday night and I’ve decided this is going to be a regular feature.  At least until the youtubes run out of cool, classic jazz clips.

First up, a rare clip of the great Bud Powell playing “Anthropology” in a quintet with Lucky Thompson on tenor and Jimmy Gourley on guitar.

Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers swang the blues on this version of “Moanin.'”  Lee Morgan shows you how it’s done.

Miles Davis’ classic quintet with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams positively killing “Gingerbread Boy.”

This last clip isn’t jazz in the strict sense, but I like to end with something fun.  More eye candy than ear candy, if you will.  Think of it as a little dessert for you after eating your vegetables.  Tonight, a lovely bit of fluff from Xavier Cugat featuring Lina Romay.  Enjoy.
